What-if scenarios

Calculations are estimates for informational purposes and are not tax, legal, or financial advice. Actual withholding and take-home pay may differ.

Frequently asked

How the estimates work, where the numbers come from, and what we deliberately do not do.

Are these the exact figures I will receive?

No. These are estimates. Your actual withholding depends on your exact Form W-4, your employer's payroll method and rounding, and any benefits or garnishments specific to your job.

Which tax year and rules are used?

Rules are versioned by tax year, federal, state and local jurisdiction — for example 2026 Federal, 2026 New York State and 2026 New York City. Rates are loaded as data, never invented at render time. The 2026 schedules now in use come from IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32, the SSA 2026 Social Security wage base, and the New York State and New York City rate schedules in Form IT-2105-I (2026).

Is my salary or deduction information stored?

No. All calculations run locally in your browser. No account is required and your salary, tips and deductions are not sent to a server.

How is overtime handled?

Enter your regular weekly hours, overtime hours and a multiplier such as 1.5×. Overtime is added to gross pay before taxes. For salaried entries an implied hourly rate is derived from your regular hours.

Will other states be supported?

Yes. The calculation engine reads jurisdiction rules from a registry, so additional states plug in without rebuilding the interface. New York is the first launch market.
